Camp Leo accepts visually-impaired campers between the ages of 7 and 17. All campers must be legally blind and a resident of South Carolina.
Camp Leo is free for our campers !!. Our camp is supported by the Hilton Head and Sun City Lions Clubs of South Carolina, as well as many local businesses and volunteers.
Camp Leo is staffed by professionally trained personnel, nurses, camp directors, and counselors. The campers are supervised 24 hours a day, and counselors live with the campers.
We hire a trained dietician to plan and prepare all our campers' meals, ensuring they get a selection that is as nutritious as it is delicious. We ask all parents and guardians about their campers' favorite foods to ensure that the campers will get to enjoy the food they love.
We suggest that campers bring the following items to camp: • Camp Clothing • Play Clothes • Underclothing • Jacket • Shoes and Socks • Swimsuit • Toiletries • Musical Instrument (if any) • Sunblock • Insect Repellent • Raincoat All items must have the camper’s name on them. Use a laundry marking pen for clothing. There is no need to worry about bedding and linen, as they will be donated by Resort Services, Inc.
Our camper application includes the usual questions about insurance, medical conditions, medications, and allergies. We ask that you fill out this application fully to ensure that we do everything we can to keep our campers safe. In addition to this, South Carolina law requires that all campers and staff members have a physical and medical history conducted by a physician. This must be completed within a month before camp.
Campers and leaders are covered by a comprehensive accident policy while they attend camp.
We offer several options for transportation. If you wish, you can transport your child directly to and from our camp. You can drop your child off on Sunday, July 18 2021 between 2:00 pm & 5:00 pm and pick him or her up on Saturday, July 24 2021 between 8:00 am & 10:00 am. We also provide bus transportation for our campers. The bus starts in Spartanburg and picks up campers at designated stops in Columbia, Greenville, and Walterboro, and it drops campers off in the same locations. We will give more detailed information to parents and guardians once the application has been accepted and all arrangements have been made.
